Azerbaijan

One of the most well-known pharmaceutical scientists of XIII-XIV centuries. He was born in the Khoy city of South Azerbaijan, studied medicine, and later moved to Baghdad and worked in as doctor in palace of caliphs. Yusuf ibn Ismail had written in 1311 "Jameyi-Bagdadi" ("The collection of Baghdad") work of the pharmaceutical encyclopedia, which was popular in the East. The book narrates to several thousands of medicinal herbs, mineral and the animals used in medicine.
