Laqqutu
Consists of two square wooden box in different sizes. It is used mostly in Azerbaijan in Astara, Masalli, Lankaran, Jalilabad regions.
it is played together with the drum, double drum, tambourine and other percussion instruments in the composition of contemporary ensemble and orchestra. Laggutu is played with two wooden hammers put on table. The dimensions of the instrument are 250x125x50 mm. It is made of walnut, apricot, mulberry, beech trees by carving inside, in special sizes. As upper section of carving is relatively thinner than the lower part the special sound timbres were obtained during the play. The etymology of the name of this instrument, probably due to its sound timbre.
Various forms of the instrument are widespread in many countries.
