Mehriban Arif gizi Aliyeva - She is a public figure, who competently holds the status of first lady of Azerbaijan Republic. She is doctor by profession.
Mehriban Aliyeva’s public activities have mainly begun since 1995. Azerbaijani Culture Friends Foundation, which now she presides over, was founded on her initiative in the same year. 
In 1996, Mehriban Aliyeva founded “Azerbaijan Heritage” magazine, which is published in three languages (Azerbaijani, English, Russian), in order to promote the culture extensively.
In 2002, Mehriban Aliyeva was elected the President of Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation, and she proved herself as a good organizator in this post. Her increasing influence in the international community played a decisive role in the decision of the international Gymnastics Federation on holding the 2003 and 2004 World Cup Competitions on Rhythmic Gymnastics and World Championship in 2005 in Azerbaijan. 
Mehriban Aliyeva presides over the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, which was established on May 10, 2004 to study the rich heritage of the Nationwide Leader of Azerbaijan nation and to teach Heydar Aliyev’s national statehood ideas to the young generations.
Due to her continuous attempts in the field of preserving and developing Azerbaijan folk literature and music heritage, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the name of UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador on August 13, 2004.


In the IV General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Republic Mehriban Aliyeva was elected member of the Executive Committee of NOC on December 28, 2004.
Since 2004, she has been member of the Political Council of New Azerbaijan Party.
In 2005, in accordance the social survey in Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the home of “Woman of the year”.
For her social, charity and philanthropic activities, the support to education and cultural institutions, monumental contributions for strengthening friendship between Russia and Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded “Ruby Cross” Order of Russia’s “Messmates of the Century” International Charity Foundation.


In 2005, she became Doctor of Philosophy.
In the parliamentary elections held on November 6, 2005, she nominated from the Azizbekhov II constituency №14 from new Azerbaijan Party and was elected with the majority votes.
The Foundation named after National Hero Chingiz Mustafayev and ANS Company Group declared Mehriban Aliyeva “Person of 2005” for her services in the development of our country’s education system, the preservation and promotion of our national and cultural heritage, her activities for strengthening the positive image of our nation in the foreign countries, the high-level organization of 27th World Championship on Rhythmic Gymnastics in our Republic, and large-scale charity activities.
On November 26, 2006, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the name of ISESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador for her large-scale activities in various fields, including inter-civilization dialogue, her attention to the children needing care, and to improving their living conditions, for great contributions to education and Islamic World.
With the unanimous decision of the 120th session of the Executive Committee of world health Organization, held on January 29, 2007, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the prize of this international organization for her exceptional services in the defense and strengthening of mother’s, child’s, and family’s health.
For her large-scale charity activities and great successes in the service to the international high ideals, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded “Golden Heart” international prize in May, 2007.
With the May 5, 2009 Decree of President of Azerbaijan Republic, Mehriban Arif gizi Aliyeva was awarded Heydar Aliyev prize for her affective works in the socio-political and cultural life of Azerbaijan Republic.
On September 14 2009, for her services in the development of friendship relations between Azerbaijan and Poland, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded “For Services” Great Cross of Commander Order of the Poland Republic.
On February 15, 2010, Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the officer degree of “Honor Legion” Order with the order of the President of France Republic for her services and loyalty in attitude to France.
On July 30, 2010, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva was awarded the “Golden Mozart” Medal of the UNESCO.
On June 24, 2011- golden medal of the Krans Montana forum have been presented to Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva 
On February 13, 2012 - the title of honorary professor of the first Moscow State Medical University named after I.M.Secenov of the Russian Federation have been honoured to Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva
In 2011 – according to the result of the survey carried out by Ekovitrin magazine, authoritative publication of Turkic economy and business Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva has been nominated as winner of “The Fist lady of the year” nominee ” on conclusions of 2011. 
On March 12, 2012 - the  award for “”Service to Turkic world” established by the  Turkic World musician and writers Union has been presented to First lady Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. 
On April 13, 2012 - interstate prize of The star of the Commonwealth has been presented to Goodwill ambassador of the UNESCO and ISESCO Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva in the Moscow for activities in the humanitarian area. 
On June 29, 2012- Prix de la Fondation prize of the Krans Montana Forum has been presented to Mrs Mehriban Aliyeva
