Media CouncilAzerbaijan Media Council is the self-regulating body of media. It was established by the foundation of up to 180 advanced Mass Media itstitutions in the I congress of Azerbaijan journalists on March 15, 2003. The Council was registered in the Ministry of Justice on April 24 of the same year. The objectives of the Council are to exercise control on the observation of demands of legislation and professional principles by the journalists, to strengthen the connections and confidence among the state bodies, community, and community, to create greater opportunities for the freedom of expression, thought, and information. In compliance with the demands of the Charter, the Media Council realizes some projects with the purpose of improving the professional training of the journalists and to support their specialization. The Media Council is in close contact with the influential media bodies of post-Soviet area and Turkey. Moreover, the Council cooperates with the media councils’ of Austria, Great Britain, and India. The Council has agreement memorandum with the Turkey Journalists’ Society and Turkey Media Council.
