Tartar region is located in the lower part of the Tartar river and from north has borders with Inja river.

Tartar city is located on the  ancient caravan routes passing through right and left banks of the Tartar river. The historical name of this region was Chaparkhana. From crafts such as carpet weaving, embroidery and textile arts were well developed in this region.
