Religious education institutions

The only higher religious education institution in Azerbaijan. The Baku Islamic University being under the Religious Administration of Caucasian Muslims has been operating for 20 years. University has Islamic Studies and Sharia  faculties. So far, the university had 1350 graduates. A total of 450 students graduating from university in 1995 was sent to study in foreign countries.

Baku Islamic University has been registered with the State Committee for Work with Religious Associations. Since 2002, the university  has its divisions in Mingachevir, Baku and Sumgait. Since then admission in University is carried out centrally by the university.

Faculty of theology is the youngest faculty of the BSU. Faculty of theology was established on the basis of a contract signed between the Turkish Religious Foundation and the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Baku State University  in 1992-93 academic years. At present, the term of study at the faculty is five years. Two specialties are conferred to graduates of the faculty of theology : Theologist and Islamic scholar and Arabic language teacher. So far, 8 people from graduates defended master\'s thesis for a degree in theology and received the degree of candidate of theology.

At the first academic year (1992-1993) the number of students admitted in the faculty in 1992-1993 was 61 people. So far, more than 600 students have been accepted infaculty.
