Nasraddin Tusi
Nasraddin Tusi Mahammad ibn Hasan (1201-1274)
He was a scientist of encyclopaedic knowledge: philosopher, astronomer, mathematician, historian, financier and lawyer. His works played a significant role in the development of geometry and trigonometry not only in the East but in Europe as well. The Scientist’s “Book on the complete quadrilateral” consisting of five books is famous as the work that played a significant role in the development of trigonometry in Europe. In the history of world sciences for the first time in this work the trigonometry is referred to as an independent field of science. On map of the Moon the sea was named after Tusi.
