Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC-AHIK)Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (AHIK) was established on February 5-6, 1993 at the Congress of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan. Trade union is a voluntary union of interbranch associations and of Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, which defend and represents the labor, social and economic rights and interests of its members. AHIK unites 18610 trade union organizations. The total number of trade union members is 1600000 people. AHIK unites 26 branch trade union organizations. On February 24, 1994, the Law of Azerbaijan Republic “On Trade Unions was adopted. AHIK is a member of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (BAHIK) since 2000. Chairman of the AHIK is a member of the Board of Directors of Council of Trade Unions of BSHIK in Central and Eastern European countries. AHIK is represented in the International Labour Organization together with government and employers’ association since 1992. In 1998 the I Congress of the Union, in 2003 the II Congress and in 2008 the III Congress was held.
