State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons

By Decision of Supreme Soviet of Azerbaijan SSR dated September 19, 1989 the State Committee of Azerbaijan SSR on works with Persons forced to leave permanent living places in order to settle problems of such persons in respect of their receive,  accommodation, and daily life.

By Presidential Decree 396, dated January 5, 1993 an institution had changed the name and called as the State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

The State Committee on Affairs of Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons is the central executive authority carrying out state policy in the sphere of resettlement, repatriation, social protection of persons who became refugees and internally displaced people as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, improvement of their social and living conditions in the liberated areas.
