Jalal GaryaghdyJalal Garyaghdy (1914-2001) He studied at the Art College in Azerbaijan and Art Academy of Tbilisi. He created the bas-relief of great Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin in Tbilisi (1937). Among his works there are bas-relief of Shota Rustaveli, and the statue of young Joseph Stalin. Jalal Garyaghdy created monuments of Bulbul and Rashid Behbudov, honored art worker Jahangir Jahangirov, Khurshudbanu Natavan, folk poet Mirza Alakbar Sabir and composer Niyazi. He taught at the School of Arts named after A. Azimzade for many years. In 1954 he was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of Azerbaijan SSR. In 1960 he was awarded the national artist of Azerbaijan SSR.
